Charleville Rises Above Flood Threat to Host Queensland Music Festival's Outback Sounds Tour

Back

Despite recently being encircled by potentially devastating floodwaters, Charleville is gearing up for the Queensland Music Festival’s Outback Sounds tour. With floodwaters gradually receding, the event scheduled for April 20th is anticipated to be a much-needed celebration for the town.

The Mayor, Shaun “Zoro” Radnedge, wants to reassure travellers and residents that the Outback Sound festival is not only happening but will be a monumental event. “Charleville really pulled together for the recent flood. Thanks to the levees and great work from many people, we emerged relatively unscathed from the recent flood, a testament to our community’s resilience and spirit.”

“This is a perfect opportunity to celebrate this as a community. Outback Sounds is a massive event for Charleville, and I urge everyone to come down to the event, enjoy the live music, and celebrate our community county spirit. It will be the Ville’s biggest Saturday afternoon session in years.” Residents can enjoy heavily reduced rates on family or individual tickets, using the “Local Legends” discount at the link below.

The Outback Trail is a nine-day self-drive, multi-festival, musical odyssey that culminates on April 20th with Outback Sounds, a family-friendly one-day music festival and the pinnacle event. This is not just a music festival, it's a celebration of our community's resilience and spirit. Renowned indie-rock heroes Ball Park Music are performing, alongside distinguished alt-rock luminary and Something For Kate frontman Paul Dempsey. In tow are folk sensations Pierce Brothers, country-pop rising star Taylor Moss, alt-country powerhouse Tori Forsyth, North-Western QLD country artist Wade Forster and homegrown heroes Ned and The Kellys, as well as a special performance from William Barton, Australia's leading didgeridoo player.

The music starts at 2 p.m. and concludes at 10 p.m. Outback Sounds will transform the Charleville Showgrounds into an outback oasis where the spirit of music, arts, food, and community thrives under the brilliant canopy of stars.
