Aurora Estate Stage 2 Construction
Latest updates
Status: Contract Execution
- Construction contract is nearing execution.
- Expected construction commencement September 2026.
Project Overview:
Murweh Shire Council is creating 65 new flood-free residential lots at the southern end of Racecourse Drive, extending the Aurora Estate.
Every lot will be fully serviced — town water, sewerage, stormwater, underground power and telecommunications, sealed roads and footpaths. Lot sizes range from 839 to 1,904 square metres, and two parkland areas will be set aside for the community.
These additional 65 flood free residential lots will enable the building of new houses for the people in our community desperately needing housing, and those people providing essential medical, teaching, emergency and social services in our community.

Frequently asked questions
When will lots be available to buy?
To be confirmed — Council has not yet set the sales process or timing.
How much will the lots cost to buy?
To be confirmed — Council has not yet confirmed sales pricing.
How do I register my interest?
Interested buyers are welcome to register via the contact details in the section below to be kept informed of the sales process.
Will local residents be given priority to purchasing lots?
At this stage Council does not intend to give preference to any buyer, rather encourage an open procurement process that affords the opportunity and welcomes local residents and residents abroad to move to the estate.
Is there a limit on how many lots one person or company can purchase?
At this stage there is planned to be no limit on how many lots one person or company can purchase. However, should one person or company wish to purchase more than one lot, Council will review the proposal in the interests of the community and benefits to the region.
What are the building conditions proposed for the estate?
Council is currently drafting a covenant and will make this available at a suitable time.
Who is building it?
The contractor is Durack Civil.
Will the works affect my property or access?
The works are inside the development site. You will notice more construction traffic, and some noise and dust during earthworks. We will give advance notice of any key impacts.
The contractor will be required to undertake dust suppression.
Some impacts will be experienced by residents that border the Stage 2 works where a retaining wall has been designed. These residents will be contacted directly to discuss timing and impacts.
What are the construction working hours?
The contractor will work on a 14 days on / 7 days off non-continuous roster arrangement.
The construction working hours are as follows:
Weekdays:
- Days: Monday to Friday (inclusive)
- Hours: 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Weekends:
- Days: Saturday to Sunday (inclusive)
- Hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Council may extend construction working hours where necessary to deliver critical works.
How will construction traffic be managed?
All construction traffic is required to enter the construction site via the Warrego Highway. No construction traffic is permitted through Aurora Estate Stage 1 without Council approval.
Are the lots flood-free?
Yes. All 65 lots will be flood-free.
What services will be connected?
Town water, sewerage, stormwater drainage, and underground power and telecommunications. Each lot fronts a sealed road.
