MURWEH SHIRE COUNCIL ADOPTS 2026/207 BUDGET FOCUSED ON SUSTAINABILITY, INFRASTRUCTURE, AND COMMUNITY GROWTH

Council has endorsed a $60.01 million Budget that continues to invest in the infrastructure and services our communities rely on, while keeping the general rate increase to 5%—equating to less than $2 per week for the average residential property on the minimum general rate.

"This year's budget has been carefully developed to balance the needs of our communities with the financial pressures facing households, businesses and local government. The Budget continues to invest in the infrastructure and services our communities rely on every day, while planning responsibly for the future." said Murweh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Shaun Radnedge. 

Highlights include:
✔️ $26.7 million capital works program
✔️ No new borrowings
✔️ 10% early payment discount on rates and charges continues*
✔️ $400 annual pensioner remission continues
✔️ Major investment in Aurora Estate Stage 2, roads, water, sewerage and community infrastructure.

Total Budget: $60.01M

Capital Grants and Subsidies: $21.9M

Capital Works Program: $26.7M

General Rates Increase: 5%
