Have your say on Queensland’s disaster preparedness and response
Submissions now open – 2025 IGEM Disaster Events Reviews
The Office of the Inspector-General of Emergency Management (IGEM) is conducting independent reviews into Queensland’s disaster management arrangements following three major weather events earlier this year:
• North Queensland Floods (late January to early February)
• Tropical Cyclone Alfred (late February to early March)
• Western Queensland Floods (late March to early April).
These reviews focus on preparedness and response activities, coordination across all levels of government, and opportunities to enhance community resilience. Local governments play a critical role in these areas, and the Office of the IGEM is encouraging councils to contribute written submissions.
Submissions can include reflections on planning, response operations, community engagement, communications, lessons learned, and examples of good practice.
• Submissions are open now
• Community forums to follow in selected regions
• Final reports due to be delivered in October 2025.
